Foundry Building
Sioux Falls, SD

The Foundry building was one of the last untouched buildings in Downtown Sioux Falls. The building had originally been a car dealership and bakery, but had taken on the role of a furniture store and warehouse since the 1940s. The new building owners dreamt of transforming the old warehouse space into modern, industrial, and unique loft-style apartments.

Many years of faux finishes, plaster, and sheet vinyl flooring where stripped away to reveal the original beauty of the building. Brick walls were exposed, antiqued original wood floors were restored, and hidden surprises were preserved. Original business advertisements were discovered that had been forgotten under years of plaster and wallpaper.

The Foundry Lofts consist of one and two bedroom units with unique loft style living and an indoor/outdoor community gathering space with fireplace. The units have exposed original columns, historic brickwork, and restored antique hardwood floors, offset with modern amenities, custom fireplaces, skylights and updated materials. The 1970s glass block windows were removed and replaced with large custom windows to provide loft residents of sweeping views of Historic Phillips Ave. From a vacant warehouse to modern lofts, the Foundry building adds a new vibrancy to downtown living.
